Russell's Reserve Single Barrel

Intro:  Russell’s Reserve Single Barrel Bourbon is matured in only the deepest No. 4 “alligator” char, American White Oak barrels handpicked by our master distillers. Individually bottled at 110 proof and non-chill filtered to guarantee maximum flavor, each barrel has its own unique personality yet still captures our signature rich, creamy toffee and vanilla taste.

The Review:  ...no more rub...

The nose...a touch of fumes....but you can get past it to smell the char come through with sweet vanilla.

The first sip...no lip burn or tongue burn...burn on the swallow, now tongue burn.  It's has great bourbon flavor...I'm not going to get into a bunch of fancy tastes that I honestly can't pull out.  Second sip...more of a house cleaner/hand sanitizer finish this time.  Not great on that one.  Third sip...corn and fume.  I like this bourbon, I can't pull out a bunch of flavors because it is married very well.  The long after taste is very good, not over powering.  I am a fan of this Wild Turkey.  The fourth sip...still when it goes down initially it is not that great, but as it mellows out it is really good.  I am not one for adding water or ice but this might have been the time to add some to tame the offensive flavors.

Is it worth the $?

It's a $60 bourbon.  It's something to add to a collection but not really one to buy on a regular basis.  If you are starting out in bourbon and want to try the spectrum of Turkey products then this one is a good one.
