Old Taylor Straight Bourbon
Intro: Not to be confused with Colonel Taylor, this is also a Buffalo Trace Product, and you can't find it on their website. This label was bought from Beam by Sazerac in 2009 and is distilled in Frankfort. It's a 6 year old bourbon at 80 proof.
Review: The nose...sweet, vanilla and chocolate. Not that much fume, corn is big.
The first sip...no burn anywhere...slight heat on the swallow. Corn again and grassy notes but not like you get from eagle rare. Second sip...sweetness but not much, with it being 80 proof it's not full bodied like I am used to drinking so the notes of the goodness coming from Buffalo Trace Distillery don't fly out like they usually do but they are still present. If I had to guess, this is probably Buffalo Trace but the barrels that didn't make the cut for the main event. Third sip...same flavors as before but just die off quick and leaving a burn or rather heat through my chest cavity.
Is it worth the $?
At $12 you bet your sweet ass it's worth it, even if you have to be yelled by an old lady who said she didn't have your ID when you came back to get it, but you mistakenly put it in a slot in your truck, ready to give it to the gate guard...JDUB...
